Glass Painting
Instructor Kenneth Leap
This workshop will explore
the art of mixing, applying and firing, glass-based paints, enamels and stains.
While the primary focus of the class will be painting on the two-dimensional
surface as it relates to stained glass, students will also learn fusing and
engraving techniques which can be adapted to glass tile making, jewelry and
mosaic projects. Prior glass experience is not required. Add $8 for material fee.
Poetry
Instructor Peter Murphy
Using a variety of
contemporary poems as models and inspiration, participants will trigger the
imagination and strengthen language skills to compose drafts of original poems
that are meaningful, satisfying and “true”. Learn strategies for developing,
interpreting and revising poems that bring the creative writing process to
life for all students.
Book Arts
Instructor Mary Phelan
Discover the power of
working with the book as a creative medium by developing relationships between
book structure, writing and imagery. Expand your concepts and the
boundaries of the traditional book. Create a traditional or experimental
book structure while producing models for your own use or for classroom
teaching activities. Add $8 for
material fee.
Collage
Instructor Barbara Bullock
Explore
the possibilities in this art form by creating texture, layering
colors and working with various mixed media on virtually any
surface. Using original and borrowed imagery, participants
will create 2 and 3-dimensional collages limited only by the
imagination. Learn how to use collage as a means to explore
any subject matter through words and pictures. Add $8 for material fee.
Memoir
Instructor Anndee Hochman
Learn to write powerful
prose about actual experience. Through guided reflection and writing
exercises, find the personal stories – whether long-ago or more recent – that
you yearn to tell. You’ll learn elements of literary craft including
showing vs. telling, sensory detail, structure and voice.
The Language of Music Instructor Josh Robinson
Participants
will create and
compose rhythms and short songs using words based on a "say it-play
it" technique. Body percussion and movement will also be
incorporated. Learn the skills necessary to play in an ensemble and develop
tools such as focused listening and conducting.
Workshops must have a minimum enrollment of 6 students. If enrollment for your workshop is not met, you will be notified 2 weeks prior to the start of your workshop. You can choose another workshop or we will happily refund your registration fee.
